Dear Mad Dog!.. Kelon bars can be a real problem if they start to deteriorate. Kelon is designed to be virtually indestructible, so......... Kelon bars are constructed in shape with an extrusion and hardening process. Once the extruded glass fibres start to chip away, they can't really be put back the same. If the brown coming off is just a painted finish, then I wouldn't worry about it too much - the sound shouldn't be really affected. If you are starting to get a bit of white powder from the chipping glass, you are through the surface resin, and that is a problem. First step is of course, to try the manufacturer - they may have a repair option. If this is a no go - you might like to try a specialist Automotive fibreglass finisher and see what they could come up with - a bit of fibreglass resin applied and finished correctly may help - That is just a guess though, so at your own risk, and wise to try one bar first. Hope this is helpful. Jim McCarthy
